Pain Points, Point!
Pain is here to communicate to us that something is wrong. But what is it saying? We know something is out of balance when we experience pain, but sometimes it is hard to determine just what it is and then, how to correct it.
Thank goodness, there are some good tools available for helping us sort and deal with our pain naturally. Rather than immediately trying to numb the discomfort, we can ask what it may be trying to tell us.
Each area of the body is connected to a specific area inside the body. And different organs, systems, and muscles, etc. are triggered by different emotions and thoughts, if unresolved. We are so connected, body, mind and soul. One area out of balance, effects the others.
If pain has an emotional component to it, what is it? There has been great work done on this by Louise Hay, Heal Your Body. Another very helpful reference is the book, Feelings Buried Alive Never Die by Karol K. Truman.
Reflexology can be a useful tool for determining the internal areas needing supported.
Looking at the emotional part of pain can be scary. And we can have resistance to it. Jason and I both both tend to look at the physical. “I just lifted or twisted wrong, that’s all.”
Yesterday, my lower back started really aching for no apparent reason. I hadn’t done anything real physical other than just feeling real tight. I sprayed it with arnica and tried to go on with my day. But the pain wouldn’t go away. I knew it was saying something bigger. I began to journal what was going through my mind. Why was I so uptight? What were my concerns and worries? It led to some good insights and by the time I was done, my back pain had eased. Not completely, stretching and moving were needed too. But the check in was good and revealed some fears and insecurities that were under the surface.
I love that nature is always seeking to get back into balance. And so is our bodies. If we can learn to listen, we can get to the deeper root cause of pain when it occurs. Happy healing, folks!
